Photo above right, the imperial measured Hemixen Art Nouveau tiles from 1910, corresponding to the Edwardian Period,
have been placed above a brick laid pattern of metric 150x75mm white smooth metro tiles. The black ceramic strips have helped mitigate the different format - they emphasise the period tiles by framing them and contrasting the honey strips.
This tile pattern design required CAD simulations.
Photo below left, a timber moulding was shaped into a curve to emulate a period feature - a stair skirting board like the Victorian period staircase, was subsequently sprayed black to blend with the tiles. Some of the top layer of tiles had to be cut to the corresponding curve.
