A second floor flat with only 2 period features worth keeping - the Carrara Marble fireplace was reopened and the kitchen hood was kept.
The flat overlooked an extensive inner court with mature gardens - olive, date palm trees, oleanders and mimosas. It is typical in Marseilles that small flats only have one exterior wall and thus the bedroom and bathroom are windowless. The 2 bedroom flat had 3 North facing windows thus limiting light but giving the advantage of coolness in the summer. Nevertheless, the second floor location, high ceilings, white walls and uncluttered design contributed to a light airy feel.
