House Renovation - The Entrance

The staircase was the only original feature of this Victorian house. The moulding that runs up the stairs parallel to the balustrade was also kept; scrim was applied on the walls and sanded thoroughly to keep it. The ceiling was taken down and plaster fibrous cornices  installed downstairs and upstairs. Phone wires were hidden under new timber mouldings around the stair well and landing.  A burgundy velvet door curtain, with  lifting mechanism was installed as it might well have done in Victorian times. Two corner mirrors and timber mouldings were inserted on either side of the front door.

The house had been renovated in the 1920's and the Art Deco stained glass was repaired and complimented with an Art Deco 'Pineapple'.
